Solo developer kukuDev ("Operator") takes the privacy of users ("you") of the TapTap Bible mobile application ("App" or "Service") very seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how I collect, use, disclose, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
The Operator collects various types of information when you use the Service.
1.1. Information You Provide Directly
The following information is collected and stored on the server only when you use the Service in a logged-in state (i.e., not in guest mode).
- Account Information: Information collected when you create an account via Google or Apple social login. This includes your email address, name (if provided by your Google/Apple account), profile picture URL, and Firebase User ID (UID). This App does not provide a separate profile picture upload feature.
- Profile Information: This includes the nickname you set. The nickname is used to identify you in group activities.
- User Content:
- Transcription Records: Includes the version code, Bible code, chapter, verse, first transcription time, last transcription time, and total transcription count of the Bible verses you have transcribed.
- Bookmarks: Includes the version code, Bible code, chapter, verse, personal memo, creation time, and update time of the verses you have bookmarked.
- Settings Information: Includes your personalized preferences set within the App, such as theme, language, notification settings (including reminder time), and transcription font/line spacing.
- Consent Records: To comply with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, Korean Personal Information Protection Act), your consent to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, the time of consent, the version of consent, IP address, and user agent information are recorded. The IP address is collected solely for the purpose of legal proof of consent and is not used for any other purpose.
1.2. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Information about how you access and use the App (e.g., access dates and times, features used, pages visited, app crash reports).
- Device Information: Information about the device you use to access the App (e.g., device model, operating system, device identifiers, app version).
- Log Data: System log information generated during app usage, such as errors, warnings, and debug messages.
- Device Security Status: Security check results are collected, such as whether your device is rooted/jailbroken, whether developer mode is enabled, and whether an emulator is being used.
1.3. Information Collected from Third Parties
- If you log in via a Google or Apple account, the Operator may receive necessary information for account creation from that service, such as your name, email address, and profile picture URL.
2. How We Use Your Information
The Operator uses the collected information for the following purposes:
2.1. To Provide and Operate the Service
To provide the core features of the App (Bible transcription, bookmarks, group activities), and to offer account management and technical support.
2.2. To Improve and Develop the Service
To analyze usage patterns to improve the App's features, performance, user experience, and develop new features.
2.3. To Provide a Personalized Experience
To provide customized content and experiences based on your settings (theme, font, etc.) and usage history (progress).
2.4. Communication
To provide important service-related announcements, updates, security alerts, and responses to customer support requests.
2.5. To Enable Group Features
To enable collaboration and progress sharing with other members within a group (nickname, parts of transcription records, activity timeline).
2.6. Advertising
To provide non-personalized or personalized ads through third-party advertising partners like Google AdMob.
2.7. Security and Fraud Prevention
To maintain the security of the Service, detect and prevent fraud and unauthorized activities, and identify and respond to device security vulnerabilities (e.g., rooting/jailbreaking).
2.8. To Comply with Legal Obligations
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes (e.g., retaining consent records).
2.9. Statistics and Analysis
To perform aggregate statistical analysis of service usage to understand market trends and support business decisions.
3. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
The Operator may share or disclose your personal information only in the following cases:
3.1. With Your Consent
When you have explicitly consented to the sharing of your personal information.
3.2. Group Members
If you participate in a group, your nickname, transcription progress (total transcribed verses, consecutive days, etc.), and in-group activities (timeline events) will be disclosed to other members of that group. Your personal memos are not shared within the group.
3.3. Service Providers
We may share information with the following third-party service providers that support our business operations. These providers may only access information to the extent necessary to perform services on behalf of the Operator and are subject to strict confidentiality obligations:
- Firebase: Provides core infrastructure for the service, including user authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), server hosting (Cloud Functions), crash reports, etc.
- Google AdMob: Ad delivery.
3.4. Legal Requirements
When required by law, regulation, or legal process (e.g., court order or subpoena), or when deemed necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Operator.
3.5. Business Transfers
Your information may be transferred in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or bankruptcy.
3.6. Anonymized or Aggregated Information
We may share anonymized or aggregated information that cannot be used to identify an individual with partners, researchers, or other third parties.
4. Data Storage and Retention Period
4.1.
The Operator retains your personal information for as long as you maintain an active account and use the Service.
4.2.
If you delete your account, all personally identifiable information, including your transcription records, bookmarks, and group activity records, will be promptly and permanently deleted, except where required by applicable law.
4.3.
Certain information, such as consent records, necessary for compliance with legal obligations may be securely stored for the period specified by applicable law.
5. Data Security
The Operator implements reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include Firebase's security features, data encryption, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so the Operator cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
6.1. Access and Correction
You have the right to access and correct your account information. Please note that nicknames cannot be changed once set, so choose carefully.
6.2. Deletion
You can permanently delete all your personally identifiable information by deleting your account. When you delete your account, all data, including your transcription records and bookmarks, will be irretrievably deleted.
6.3. Data Access
You have the right to have your data synchronized and stored on the server. This App does not provide a separate 'data export' feature, but you can save your data to the server and access it from multiple devices by using the 'Data Sync' feature after logging in.
6.4. Notification Settings
You can freely control the receipt and timing of transcription reminder notifications through the in-app settings menu. This App does not send notifications for marketing purposes.
6.5. Filing a Complaint
You have the right to file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 16. The Operator does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 16. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information from our records.
8. International Data Transfer
Your information may be stored and processed on computers located outside of your country, province, state, or other governmental jurisdiction. If you reside outside the Republic of Korea, please be aware that the data protection laws governing the collection, transfer, and processing of information by the Operator may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy and submitting your information, you consent to this transfer. The Operator will take all reasonably necessary steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
The Operator may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If there are material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice, email, or other reasonable means at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Minor changes (e.g., typo corrections) may be updated without separate notice. Please review the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page periodically.
